Uganda’s Wild Heart

Day 1 | Arrival in Entebbe
Upon landing at Entebbe International Airport, you will be warmly received by your guide, who will assist you through the immigration process. Afterward, you’ll be driven to your hotel to settle in and relax.
Day 2 | Mabamba Swamp & Kibale Forest
After breakfast, set off for the Mabamba Swamp, where a canoe excursion awaits, offering the chance to spot the rare Shoebill Stork, along with a variety of other waterbirds like African Water Rail, Purple Gallinule, and Goliath Heron. Later, you’ll embark on a scenic drive to Kibale National Park, passing through picturesque tea plantations along the way.
Day 3 | Chimpanzee Tracking
Today’s adventure begins with a trek into Kibale National Park to track the park’s most famous residents: the chimpanzees. Known for hosting 13 primate species, Kibale offers the highest population of chimpanzees in Africa. After an incredible trekking experience, enjoy a traditional lunch at Tinka’s home, where you’ll learn about local culinary customs. In the afternoon, continue to the Bigodi community for an enriching cultural walk.
Day 4 | Kasenda Crate Lakes
After breakfast, set out on a guided walk from the edge of Kibale National Park to the stunning Kasenda Crater Lakes, a 3-4 hour journey through charming villages and sprawling tea plantations. Take in the breathtaking scenery and explore one of the crater lakes on foot before proceeding to your next lodge for the evening.
Day 5 | Hike on Mountain RwenzorI
Today’s adventure takes you on a hike up Mount Rwenzori, beginning at the Rwenzori Mountaineering Services office in Nyakalengija. The trail winds through farmlands, follows the Mubuku River, and crosses its Mahoma tributary before ascending steeply to reach Nyabitaba Hut. The hike, lasting around 6-7 hours, offers the chance to spot wildlife like black-and-white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, and the vibrant Rwenzori Turaco.
Day 6 | Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park
After an early breakfast, set off for Queen Elizabeth National Park. En route, keep an eye out for various wildlife, as the park’s diverse habitats promise ample sightings. Upon arrival, check into your accommodation and prepare for an exciting day ahead.
Day 7 | Game drive in Ishasha Sector
Start your day with a drive to the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, renowned for its tree-climbing lions. Enjoy a game drive through this unique part of the park, and then head to the banks of the Ishasha River, where you can observe hippos at close range as they splash and play in the water.
Day 8 | Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Set off for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in the morning. This lush forest is home to the endangered mountain gorillas and a variety of unique bird species. Upon arrival, embark on a nature walk, choosing between the Kashasha River Trail (17 km, 7 hours) or the Ivy River Trail (14 km, 4 hours). Along the way, encounter monkeys, duikers, bush pigs, and a stunning array of bird species and butterflies.
Day 9 | Lake Mutanda
Today, enjoy a hike to Lake Mutanda from the Rubuguri junction. As you walk through the lakeside villages, you’ll see locals tending to their fields and livestock. Upon reaching the lake, take a boat ride across its crystal-clear waters, with views of the surrounding volcanoes on a clear day.
Day 10 | Gorilla Trekking
Get an early start for the highlight of your safari: gorilla trekking. The trek can last anywhere from 2 to 6 hours, leading you through dense forest to spend a magical hour in the company of mountain gorillas. After this unforgettable experience, head to Lake Bunyonyi for an overnight stay.
Day 11 | Lake Mburo Nationa Park
Depart for Lake Mburo National Park, Uganda’s smallest savannah park known for its beautiful landscapes. Enjoy a boat ride on Lake Mburo, where you’ll spot numerous bird species such as the flame-headed barbet, red-faced barbet, and Rufous-bellied heron. The park’s shores are bustling with wildlife, offering a serene end to your day.
Day 12 | Entebbe
Rise early for a guided nature walk through Lake Mburo National Park. Afterward, return to the lodge for a hearty breakfast before starting your journey back to Entebbe. Cross the equator en route and arrive at the airport in time for your flight home, concluding your incredible Ugandan adventure.
